Meditation: Salt, Light, and the Power of Small Things

Texts:  Isaiah 58:1-12 and Matthew 5:13-20

Settle your body. Take a deep, steadying breath.

Notice the weight you carry—hopes, worries, fatigue, or simply the noise of daily life.

You don’t have to have it all together. Just be here.

Listen

“You are the salt of the earth. You are the light of the world.”

Not when you’re perfect. Not when you’ve got it all figured out.

Now. As you are.

Pause

Where do you feel your “minerals” — your quirks, wounds, gifts — being called into the world this week?

Where have you witnessed a small act of kindness or courage, or been the recipient of it?

Reflect

What’s one “little thing” you could offer — a note, a listening ear, a meal, a simple word of encouragement?

Who in your corner of the world needs to know they matter?

Pray

God, you don’t ask for perfection, only presence.

Give me the courage to show up, as I am.

Let my light shine—however small—where it’s needed most.

Let my salt bring out the goodness around me, even if I never see the difference it makes.

May your Dream of healing, justice, and hope grow, one small act at a time.

Amen.

Rest in this space as long as you need.

When you are ready, return to your day — trusting that your presence, your light, your minerals, matter more than you know.
