Meditation: Thin Spaces—From Encounter to Empowerment

Texts:  Exodus 24:12-18 and Matthew 17:1-13

Settle

Take a slow, steady breath.

Let your body settle, your mind quiet, your heart open.

Pause

Recall a time when you felt God’s presence—however small or brief.

Maybe it was a moment of beauty, a word of kindness, or a sense of peace you couldn’t explain.

Hold that moment gently.

Notice what it awakened in you—gratitude, awe, longing, courage.

Listen

Now hear these ancient words echoing from the mountaintop:

“This is my Beloved; listen.”

Reflect

Let the memory of encounter become a seed—planted not for escape, but for transformation.

  • Where is the valley you’re called to return to today?

  • What need, struggle, or person waits at the bottom of your mountain?

  • How can you bring a spark of that light—hope, compassion, presence—into the ordinary world?

Closing Prayer

God of mountaintops and valleys,

Thank you for the moments when your presence breaks through.

Give me courage not to cling, but to be changed.

Empower me to bring light into the places that need it most.

Let your Dream be lived through me, one act of hope at a time.

Amen.

Rest in this space as long as you need. When you are ready, return to your day—carrying the light of encounter with you.
