Meditation: Remember Me

A practice for choosing love in a world shaped by fear

“Jesus, remember me.”                               ~ Luke 23:42

Breath Prayer

Inhale: I turn toward love

Exhale: Remember me

Repeat slowly for 1–2 minutes, letting the rhythm center and ground you.

Reflection

The world offers many ways to react.

You can scoff at what feels too vulnerable.

You can mock what you don’t understand.

You can turn cynical when mercy seems naïve.

You can stand back, detached, safe.

But then there’s another way.

The quieter way.

The way of the heart that says,

“Remember me.”

That prayer isn’t about being perfect.

It’s about being willing.

Willing to turn.

Willing to trust.

Willing to love, even when it’s not returned.

Willing to show up, even when it’s uncomfortable.

Willing to let the cracks in your life become places where the light can shine through.

The Dream of God isn’t out there, someday.

It begins wherever someone risks choosing compassion over control, presence over protection, mercy over might.

So today, don’t ask what you believe.

Ask: Who will I be?

Questions for Prayer or Journaling

  • Where in my life am I tempted to scoff, mock, grow cynical, or withdraw?

  • Where is love quietly inviting me to show up with courage and vulnerability?

  • What would it mean to speak honestly from where I am and simply say, “Remember me”?

Closing Prayer

Holy One,

you do not reign through fear or force, but through mercy, compassion, and love.  You do not wait for us to get it right — you turn toward us even in our brokenness.  Help me to recognize your presence, not in power, but in vulnerability.  Not in triumph, but in tenderness.  And when I am afraid, teach me to speak this prayer of hope: Remember me.

Amen.
