Advent Meditation: Wake Up to the Dream

Texts: Isaiah 2:1-5 and Matthew 24:36-44

Center Yourself

Breath Prayer:

As you breathe in, pray: “Awaken me, O God…”

As you breathe out, pray: “…to your Dream in this moment.”

Repeat slowly for several breaths, letting your mind and body settle.

Reflection

  • Where did I glimpse the Dream of God—justice, peace, unity—today?

  • How did I help make that Dream real for someone else, even in a small way?

  • Is there a place in my life that feels like “ordinary time,” where I might be invited to wake up to the sacred?

  • What’s being transformed in me, or through me, as I wait and prepare for what’s next?

Practice: Participation

Choose one:

  • Notice a moment today where you can respond with kindness instead of habit.

  • Seek out one opportunity to bring light or hope into someone’s ordinary routine.

  • Reflect on something in your life you’ve seen as a negative. Ask: Could this, with a new perspective, become an instrument for good? (Turning swords into ploughshares.)

Closing Prayer

Come, Light of God—shine in the ordinary spaces of my day.  Awaken me to your Dream, here and now.  Let me walk in your light and help bring your peace to the world. Amen.

“Come, let us walk in the light of God.”
