Meditation: The Way of Real Life

Texts:  Acts 7:55-60 and John 14:1-14

Take a slow breath.

Let your body settle.

Let your shoulders soften.
Let yourself arrive here, just as you are.

You do not need to solve anything right now.
You do not need to force certainty.
You do not need to escape your life.

Just be here.
Just breathe.

Hear these words of Jesus:

Do not let your hearts be troubled.

Let these words rest in you for a moment.

Now hear this too:

Believe.

Not as a test.
Not as a demand to get your thoughts right.
But as an invitation.

Entrust yourself to the way of life Jesus has been showing.

Gently ask yourself:

Where is fear stirring in me right now?
What am I trying to control?
What would it mean to trust God here?

Jesus says:

I am the way, and the truth, and the life.

Not a map.
Not an escape.

But a way of living.

A way of relationship.
A way of courage.
A way of communion with God.

Return to your breath again.

And let yourself rest in this truth:

God is not far away.
God is not waiting somewhere else.
The life of God is here,
in the middle of your actual life.

Now pray:

Holy One,
when fear troubles my heart,
draw me back to your presence.

Teach me to trust
the life Jesus has shown.

When I want certainty,
give me courage.
When I want escape,
give me communion.
When I lose my way,
lead me again into your life.

Help me live with love,
with trust,
and with a heart open to you.

Amen.
