Meditation: The Life You Were Made For - Learning to Trust
Find a comfortable position and let your body settle.
Take a slow breath in. And release.
Allow this moment to be what it is — not something to fix or figure out. Just this.
✤ ✤ ✤
Think about the circumstances of your life right now. The places of uncertainty. The futures you cannot predict. The things you are holding tightly because letting go feels dangerous.
Notice — without judgment — where fear is operating. Not the dramatic kind. The quiet, habitual kind. The scanning. The grasping. The low-grade vigilance that never quite switches off.
Fear is not irrational. The world is genuinely uncertain. Loss is real.
Gently ask yourself: What is fear costing me right now? What would I be able to do — or become — if fear were not my center of gravity?
✤ ✤ ✤
Trust is not a feeling to achieve or a doctrine to accept. It is a posture — the practiced conviction that Love is more fundamental than fear. That shalom is the deepest truth of reality, even when the surface of things tells a different story.
Jesus said the Dream of God has drawn near. Not someday. Now. Already pressing into this moment.
Gently ask yourself: What would it mean — not to feel differently, but to stand differently? To inhabit this moment from the conviction that the ground beneath my feet is more solid than the chaos on the surface?
✤ ✤ ✤
The world is not yet whole. And shalom is already the deepest reality. Both are true simultaneously.
You do not have to pretend the brokenness isn't real. Trust is not denial. It is the capacity to hold the brokenness without being defined by it. To say: this is not yet what God intends — and God's future is already here.
Gently ask yourself: Where am I collapsing into despair, as if Love has lost? Or performing a hope I do not actually feel? What would it mean simply to rest inside the paradox?
✤ ✤ ✤
Think of something you are working toward — a relationship, a hope, a call. Something that matters.
Notice from where you are working. From fear? From the urgent need to control something? Or from a more settled place — from love, from abundance, from the conviction that you are already held?
Gently ask yourself: What would change in how I show up if I genuinely trusted that the ground beneath me is more solid than everything pressing in from the surface?
✤ ✤ ✤
Now pray:
O God, I spend more time scanning the horizon than resting in you. Teach me to practice trust — not as a feeling I have to manufacture, but as the daily, chosen orientation of my life. When fear grasps, remind me that there is something worth releasing into. When I am exhausted from holding everything together by the force of my own anxiety, let me rest in the conviction that Love is already at work — that your Dream has already drawn near, is already pressing into this moment, is already the ground beneath my feet.
Help me to work from that ground. From abundance rather than scarcity. From love rather than fear. Amen.
